We have been asked to solve or have ourselves suggested a solution to a problem which lies outside our core work of English language or Presentational Skills. In some way the solution is related to communication in English, however loosely. To move towards a solution we may develop a model (= a planalysis of the problem). Development of the model is only the first step towards the solution. Successful communication and implementation of it are equally, if not more important. A model we developed and implemented was…
The NOW and the NEW.
In this model a number of steps to be taken were communicated to stakeholders with a view to embedding the model in the company. This was a part of a larger change operation at many levels that was being driven throughout the company.
The key word in business and organisations over the last few years has been change. A fact that everybody agrees to is that the speed and importance of change are increasing, some would say alarmingly, and this trend is unlikely to slow down in the near future. How can managers, staff, directors control and stimulate positive change within their organisation? We, at TRIPLE A see this partly as a problem of communication. We have been presented with problems by some of our customers, have put on our communication glasses and planned and implemented solutions.
A concept we introduced in this context was language of change. The words we use, the phrases we use, the body language we use, all stimulate or inhibit change. This is where our skills lie…in communication in English.
We developed this model for everyone – leaders, managers, supervisors, trainers and coaches - who needs to understand or stimulate change and learning in others.
It is based on what happens when people learn or change and answers the question ‘how can I create and influence change in people?’ It lists a number of steps that take place when people learn and shows how you, the manager or trainer, can influence the final outcome, how you can get people to learn and change more effectively.
